About This Place

Located in the heart of Washington, DC’s vibrant Cleveland Park neighborhood, Comet Ping Pong serves up a delightful fusion of artisanal pizza and lively community spirit. This pizza restaurant showcases an inventive menu that pairs wood-fired pies with an array of shareable starters and fresh, thoughtfully crafted salads, creating a dining experience that’s both comforting and exciting.

At Comet Ping Pong, the pizza is undoubtedly the star attraction. Each pie is a vibrant collage of flavors and textures—from the creamy, luscious Softie Pizza and the boldly savory Pick-A-Pepper Pizza to the smoky richness of the Smoky Pizza and the hearty, nostalgia-inducing Meatball Pizza. The Spring Chick Pizza adds a fresh, seasonal touch, while the Philly Calzone offers a comforting, handheld twist. For those seeking a more hands-on experience, the Build Your Own Pizza option lets diners tailor their pie with a variety of fresh toppings, ensuring every bite satisfies personal cravings.

The menu goes well beyond pizza, featuring standout appetizers like the indulgent Garlic Knot Meatball Sliders—soft, garlicky knots stuffed with savory meatballs—and the crisply seasoned Chicken Wings. Freshness shines through the vibrant Greek Feta Salad and the unique, flavor-packed Lentil Salad, bringing balance to the meal with bright, garden-fresh ingredients and zesty dressings.

Dessert is a celebration in itself, with the house-baked Chocolate Chip Cookie delivering comfort in every gooey bite, the “world-famous” Chocolate Cake draped in a luscious strawberry compote, and the classic Homemade Tiramisu providing a perfect ending that’s rich, yet elegantly light.

The atmosphere at Comet Ping Pong is a refreshing blend of casual and spirited. With its inviting interior styled like a chic ping pong clubhouse, complete with tables nestled towards the back, the space encourages fun and relaxation alike. Several customers have noted the joy of lingering over their meals, whether savoring wood-fired excellence at midday or enjoying a cold pitcher of cider or beer as evening draws near. The outdoor seating is especially prized during DC’s balmy weather, offering a relaxed setting to enjoy both the food and the buzz of the neighborhood.

Customer experiences underscore this unique vibe. Tim Suddreth praises the restaurant as “a great place to relax with excellent food and service,” appreciating the combination of tasty starters and vibrant salads. Luke Miller was pleasantly surprised by the creative menu, calling the garlic knot meatball sliders “amazing” and complimenting the uniqueness of the lentil salad. While not every visit earns universal accolades—some diners desire more polish in execution—the heartfelt soul of the place shines brightest, thanks in part to the communal spirit of ping pong tables and welcoming staff.

Whether you’re a local seeking a neighborhood hangout or a visitor craving authentic wood-fired pizza with a twist, Comet Ping Pong offers a one-of-a-kind dining destination where quality meets charm. With thoughtfully sourced ingredients, an inviting atmosphere, and flavors that spark joy, it’s no wonder this spot continues to win the hearts of DC’s food lovers and casual gamers alike.

A Great place to relax with excellent food and service. My family and I ate here while on vacation. The weather in DC is perfect for the outside seating. We started with the Garlic Knots and then three types of pizza and a Greek Salad!

For a place this fun and reasonably priced, I didn’t expect the food to be as good as it was. The menu was just as fun as the restaurant, and everything we ordered was delicious. We had the Mac and cheese bites, lentil salad, garlic knot meatball sliders, wings and spring chick pizza. The lentil salad was unique and tasty. The garlic knot meatball sliders were amazing, were bigger than I expected and such a good idea. The wings had a great flavor and were so tender they practically melt in your mouth. Honestly some of the best wings I’ve ever had. The pizza is true Neapolitan style dough. Robust yet soft with the right amount of char. The flavors of the spring chick were excellent. The quality of the pizza was something I would expect from a fancy white tablecloth Italian Ristorante, a pleasant surprise for a place with ping pong tables. We finished with an Oreo sundae. All in all it ticks every box. The cocktails were tasty, the staff were friendly, the ambiance is lovely. It’s a great place to take the family, meet up with friends, or go on a date.

I've only been there once. So at this point, unwilling to judge entire food menu or atmosphere. But seems that likely to be a 4-star review for both. Their pizza-oven pizza is among the best that I've ever had. They have a small performance area, maybe accommodating about 100 people; appears that performances don't start until 10:00 p.m. I had beer and pizza there around noontime. Nice part of town: Upper Connecticut Avenue.

Although the food is responsibly sourced and of good quality, our group of 10 was not really impressed with the pizzas. Their menu items are interesting, but not well executed. However, they get 4 stars because they have soul....and ping pong tables in the back. We got to play a few games and it makes for a fun, relaxing night. We felt comfortable hanging there for a while after we had finished our food. Good selection of beers too.

We hosted a private event at comet ping pong and were extremely satisfied in every way. First off, their decorations are on point. The whole space evokes a classy ping pong clubhouse. Additionally the service and the food were not top notch. We experienced some slight issues getting the pizza out quickly and as an apology our whole party (of 40+) got dessert. We'll be back for sure.

Went to Comet Ping Pong Pizza bc q-anon recommended it if you're in DC! Went in the afternoon and it wasn't too busy. I wanted a pizza and they have just about any topping you'd desire. I went with the Hottie, pepperoni and jalapeño. My wife wanted something lighter and got a meatball bowl and we split a Greek salad. The salad was great, spring leafiness and feta! The pizza was what I'd call ok on the yum scale, and the meatballs very good! We had a couple beers to wash it down. The service was excellent, meeting our needs and bringing some humor to the table. We were served quickly and food was hot. We had an enjoyable time and I can see why this place is popular!

I had the Chicken Pesto and Spaghetti Squash while friends ordered salad and a pizza. Overall all the foods were delicious. The spaghetti squash could use more seasoning and the grilled chicken was a bit on the bland side. But it was not bad at all. They also have desserts/ice cream from Honey’s next door.

New Comet Ping Pong fan here! Great food and vibes. I’m vegetarian and so glad they let me sub potato for the chicken on the Spring Chick pizza. It was amazing!! Someone even asked me what pizza it was on their way out because it looked so good. Yum yum
